Your opportunity
As Cloud Ops Engineer – GCP & VRE, you will play a key role in the reliable operation, optimisation and continuous improvement of Scentre Group’s Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Virtual Retail Environment (VRE).
You’ll ensure our cloud platforms are stable, secure and efficient, while driving automation, standardisation and modernisation. Balancing operational reliability with continuous uplift, you’ll enable engineering and product teams across the business to design, build and operate services safely and effectively.
Your impact will be seen through reduced operational risk, improved platform performance, optimised costs, and stronger confidence in service delivery across the business
What you’ll be doing
- Run and support our GCP and VRE platforms, keeping them reliable, secure and performing well
- Manage core cloud services including networking, IAM, Kubernetes (GKE) and storage
- Monitor platform health, performance and costs, addressing issues before they become risks
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Improve automation and CI/CD pipelines to reduce manual work and enable self‑service
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues, including incident and on‑call support
- Apply strong security and governance practices across cloud environments
- Work closely with engineering, delivery teams and vendors to support platform needs
- Continuously look for ways to improve platform reliability, efficiency and scalability
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a technical engineer with strong, hands‑on experience in Google Cloud Platform, with clear specialisation in this area. The role requires someone with specific, in‑depth technical expertise, rather than a generalist background.
- Ideally brings experience in video or visual analytics, including CCTV and camera‑based technologies
- Experience working with Terraform and GitHub
- Comfortable collaborating with vendors and working alongside our digital analytics team, including participation in an on‑call or roster‑based support model
- Proven experience delivering work through projects and agile ways of working, operating in sprints and contributing within cross‑functional teams
