Apply now Job no: 498677
Work type: Permanent Full Time
Location: Sydney

Your opportunity

Step into a pivotal leadership role where you’ll shape and drive Scentre Group’s enterprise‑level program to reduce data exposure and embed risk‑aware data handling across the business. As Senior Manager, Governance & Data Protection, you’ll be at the forefront of partnering with senior leaders across HR, Legal, Privacy, Data Analytics, Enterprise Risk, Technology, and Cyber Security to define and operationalise protective controls for sensitive information across endpoint, on‑prem, SaaS, and cloud platforms.

This is a senior, stakeholder‑facing role with the opportunity to design and build from the ground up — implementing cutting‑edge technology and driving behaviour change across the organisation

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

  • Driving and maintain the Information Protection strategy and 12–24‑month roadmap aligned to business objectives and regulatory obligations
  • Acting as the primary advisor to senior leaders on sensitive data risks, partnering to prioritise protections and gain support for mitigations
  • Developing and running data governance related forums spanning technology and business functions.
  • Developing and maintain policies, standards, and practical guidance for data handling, DLP/CASB usage, incident response, and acceptable use
  • Overseeing technical delivery with engineering teams, ensuring effective deployment and tuning of DLP, CASB, and visibility tools
  • Identifying and assessing data risks through discovery, mapping, and threat modelling, and provide regular assurance reporting to stakeholders
  • Serving as subject‑matter expert during incidents involving data leakage or misuse, supporting investigations and remediation efforts
  • Leading behaviour‑change initiatives, training, and mentoring to uplift data handling practices while managing junior analysts and vendors

What sets you apart

You will have extensive experience engaging senior leaders in medium-large organisations, with 8+ years in information security with some focus on data protection, and at least 3 years leading programs or teams. Skilled in DLP, CASB, and data protection approaches, you’re familiar with platforms such as Zscaler, Varonis, and Microsoft Purview (or equivalent platforms), and excel at translating technical controls into clear business outcomes.

What You Will Bring

You bring strong knowledge of privacy and compliance requirements, proven program and project management capability, and excellent communication skills — producing clear executive reporting, policies, and training that drive adoption and behaviour change.
