Your opportunity

The Risk Manager plays a pivotal role within Scentre Group’s Design, Development & Construction (DDC) business. Reporting to the National WHS Manager, Construction, you will lead the implementation of health, safety, environment and quality standards across our projects, driving a culture of care and ensuring compliance with Scentre Group systems, Australian and New Zealand WHS legislation, and sustainable business practices.

At Scentre Group, the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, partners and customers remains our highest priority. We are committed to fostering workplaces where every individual contributes to a culture that protects people and enables success.

What this role is about:

WHS Leadership & Governance

  • Provide strategic leadership for WHS across Design, Development & Construction, ensuring consistent implementation and alignment with Scentre Group’s values and systems.
  • Lead the delivery of national programs and governance frameworks that drive proactive risk management and continuous improvement across the NSW portfolio and, where required, other regions.

Safety Culture & Leadership

  • Strengthen our safety culture by championing collaboration, accountability and the People Protecting People ethos.
  • Model visible leadership and empower teams to embed safe behaviours and critical control verification into day-to-day operations.

Sustainability, Environment & Quality

  • Integrate sustainability, environmental protection and quality assurance into WHS planning and project delivery.
  • Promote responsible construction practices that reflect Scentre Group’s commitment to environmental stewardship and high-quality outcomes.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key liaison between project teams, regulators and business partners to ensure clear communication and alignment on WHS expectations.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support transparency and shared accountability.

Compliance & Performance Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation and the principles of ISO 45001.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on HSEQ performance to senior leadership, providing insights that inform strategy and drive continual improvement.

What will set you apart from the rest:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Environment, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership or advisory role within WHS, ideally within construction or major project environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian and New Zealand WHS legislation, including psychosocial risk management, and familiarity with the principles of ISO 45001.
  • A curious mindset with a commitment to continual learning and improvement.
  • Proven ability to inspire, influence and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across regions and functions.
  • A visible role model of safe leadership behaviours, promoting accountability, care and the People Protecting People culture in everything you do.
